Dubrovnik is notable for its filming location as King’s Landing, the fictional city in the most-awarded series in Emmy Award history. We’ve located some of the most notable Game of Thrones scenes in the city of Dubrovnik as well as on the island of Lokrum, a 15-minute ferry ride away from the city. This is actually season two, episode 6 of the TV series, "Game of Thrones." The "Red Keep" is Pile Gate, the main entrance to the old walled city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The name Pile is derived from the Greek word "pylaj", meaning "gate." Most walking tours of the Old City start at the 15th-century Pile Gate.
Actually they only moved to Dubrovnik in season 2, went there last summer and went to an exhibit about it, as well as had a tour. "Before it found its seaside home in Dubrovnik, King's Landing was originally shot on the island of Malta. It's well-preserved capital, Mdina, was used as the the capital of Westeros throughout the series' first season."
Any true Game of Thrones fan will know that the beautiful city of Dubrovnik in Croatia was the filming location for the King’s Landing in the popular TV series. Many famous scenes such as Cersei’s walk of shame, King Joffery’s tournament and Daenerys Targaryen visit to Qarth were all filmed in this sunny city.
